The bee box – space-saving , efficient , resource-conserving
By purchasing the bee box, you ensure that...
-
A used tin can, plastic bottle and bottle cap can be reused in a meaningful way.
-
around 70 wild bees can find a place to lay their eggs
Facts and figures about the bee box:
-
Nesting tubes made of reeds, bamboo, twigs and wood
-
Dimensions: approx. 10x12 cm (other sizes available upon request)
-
Location: Somewhat sheltered from wind and rain – it doesn't need to be windless and completely dry. Mounting on a tree, fence, or balcony is perfectly possible.
-
Orientation: Ideally, the opening should face southeast. Minor deviations are possible, but avoid orienting the opening to the west, as the wind usually blows from that direction.
-
Easy and quick assembly, simply hang it on a tree with a cord.
-
Very space-saving. Even a small balcony can easily find a suitable spot for the bee box.
Did you know?
Insect hotels aren't actually hotels, but rather breeding chambers. The bees don't come to spend the night – and they don't have to pay rent either.
There are over 550 different wild bee species in Germany. If you manage to observe the bees in your bee box closely, you might be able to identify them. Try searching for a "wild bee identification key".
